Through practical experiences, you'll develop a portfolio of work that will impress employers. Beginning your first week, you will have the opportunity to practice what you're learning in your Communication classes. You'll have access to cameras, microphones, computers, lights, and much more for each of your projects.

With countless opportunities to get in front of a microphone, you will learn to call the action as a professional sports announcer.

Sports Information / Athletic Communication

Our curriculum will prepare you for a career in the field of sports information and athletic communication. You'll work alongside the WU sports information office to gain invaluable experience that sets you apart.

Digital Design

If you have a passion for visual design and communication, you will excel in our Digital Design program. You'll create eye-catching designs for both print and electronic media.

Public Relations

Take command of all aspects of an organization's brand from their press releases to their event planning. You'll learn to present a professional image for both non-profit and for-profit companies.

Electronic Media

Our electronic media program is a perfect home for you if you have a passion for all things video and audio. You'll become an expert producer of news packages, promotional pieces, and documentaries.

Journalism

You'll learn to investigate stories and interview key witnesses as a journalism major. You'll develop strong writing and editing skills working for our award-winning campus newspaper, The Yellow Jacket.

Advertising

Learn to create, manage, and analyze successful advertising campaigns for both non-profit and for-profit organizations. With a range of business courses, you will be perfect fit for many positions in the ad industry.

Communication

This 54 credit program will prepare you for a career in any area of mass communication. This general communication plan is ideal for transfer students and combines well with our many minor programs.

Learn in our production facilities that include a television production truck, a brand new Mac computer lab, a radio station, television studio, and newspaper production office.

Unique opportunities

Communication students can apply their skills in the Caribbean during our service trip to the island of Bonaire. Students also gain professional experience through partnerships with WTAE, PRSA Pittsburgh, and Pikewood Sports.

Our graduates have landed careers with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. They work for Brunner Communication, the Christian Television Network, and Pittsburgh Quarterly Magazine.
