Thirty-one Waynesburg University students are participating in service trips during fall break this week. Led by faculty and staff members, they are serving in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and the local Greene County area.
Gettysburg National Military Park – Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Led by Rea Redd, director of the Eberly Library, and Courtney Dennis, associate director of the Paul R. Stewart Museum, 16 students are serving in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
This is the fifth year Waynesburg students are in Gettysburg. This year, students are working with different organizations including the Seminary Ridge Historical Museum, Gettysburg Battlefield National Museum, the Gettysburg Battlefield Preservation Society, and other historical groups.
Greene County Habitat for Humanity – Waynesburg, Pennsylvania
Five students are working with the Greene County Habitat for Humanity. The service trip is being led by Adrienne Tharp, coordinator for the Bonner Scholar Program, and senior Bonner scholar Paul Hicks.
Students are working at a house in Waynesburg, just a few blocks away from campus, Tharp shared.
Greene County Immersion – Waynesburg, Pennsylvania
Ten students are serving at six sites in Greene County during fall break this week. The trip is being led by Kelly Hardie, assistant dean of student services and director of the Center for Service Leadership, and sophomore nursing major Samantha Hyland.
Students are serving at the Greene County Historical Society, Corner Cupboard Food Bank, Bowlby Library and others.
