Waynesburg University will welcome Evan Lutz, founder of Hungry Harvest, to speak in the Rosetta Kormuth DeVito Lecture Series Wednesday, April 3, at 7 p.m. in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center. Admission is free, and the public is cordially invited to attend.
Lutz started Hungry Harvest in May 2014 as a way to fight food insecurity and put to use the billions of pounds of produce that are wasted in the U.S. each year. The enterprise purchases produce from farms, assembles them into variety boxes and sells them to customers for less than 20 percent of their retail value.
During his lecture, Lutz will speak about what inspired him to start Hungry Harvest, as well as the widespread issues of food waste and hunger. He will also share practical tips for anyone interested in starting a business.
