Waynesburg University’s Department of Fine Arts will host Camerata 33 for a special concert Friday, Sept. 13, as part of its Performing Arts Series. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Goodwin Performing Arts Center.
Tickets are $8 for students and $15 for adults. To purchase tickets in advance, visit waynesburg.ticketleap.com/latin. Waynesburg faculty, staff and students may attend at no cost by presenting a current University ID at the door.
Camerata 33 is a newly launched professional chamber orchestra from Pittsburgh. Their mission is to promote authentic Latin-American chamber music through concerts in the United States and around the world.
The performance will feature strings, percussion and bandoneon music of popular tango artists, including Astor Piazolla’s “New Tango,” Panamanian dances and Columbian dances, among others.
The Sept. 13 concert at Waynesburg will mark the ensemble’s first public concert.
During the day, the group’s leader, Alejandro Pinzon, will host an interactive lecture on the history of Argentine Tango for Waynesburg University music students.
