Waynesburg University to host Faculty and Alumni Art Show

The show will open with a reception Jan. 28

Waynesburg University will host a Faculty and Alumni Art Show in the Benedum Fine Arts Gallery, from Jan. 29 to Feb. 18. The show will begin with an opening reception Jan. 28, at 6 p.m. Admission is free, and the public is cordially invited to attend.

The Department of Fine Arts hosts a faculty art show every year, said Andrew Heisey, chairperson for the Department Fine Arts and assistant professor of art. This year’s show will include work from Heisey and lecturers of art Ron Jesioloski, Lisa Rasmussen and Katie Rearick.

A new element to the show this year, Heisey said, is the inclusion of work from Waynesburg University alumni. Inviting alumni has given the department the opportunity to reconnect with former students and learn their diverse career paths.

Heisey said he has received work from an art teacher, a graduate student and a business owner. One alumna even sent in a children’s book she illustrated.

“I want our students to see that graduating from Waynesburg University with an art degree provides opportunity for the future,” he said. “It also shows the quality of our alumni and the art they are still making today.”
