Bonner Scholars hold Empty Bowls event

Micah Leith Apr 8, 2022

Waynesburg University Bonner Scholars recently hosted an “Empty Bowls” event to fight hunger in Greene County.

The event was held in the Stover Campus Center. Those who purchased a ticket received a meal that included soup, bread and a dessert. They also were given a ceramic bowl to take home, which were made by the Waynesburg University Department of Fine Arts.

The proceeds from the event were donated to the Community Foundation of Greene County’s weekend food program.

According to Adrienne Tharp, director of Center for Service Leadership and Bonner Scholars Program, it was time for the event to come back.

“It’s so great to see this event back! It was definitely a much smaller scale than previous years but a good stepping stone,” she said.

The event was led by Bonner Scholars Meghan Briski, a senior nursing major, and Alyson Johnson, a senior exercise science major.
